On 28 July 2019, WFWP Malaysia kicked off its first humanitarian service programme at the Seri Setia Old Folks Home in Sungai Way, Selangor. This programme supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal No. 1 – “No Poverty” and Goal No. 10 – “Reduced Inequalities” of the United Nations.
More than 40 volunteers, consisting of young students and members of the public, spent a meaningful morning with the 35 elderly people at the home. The programme included a simple Zumba session that encouraged the residents to exercise, and there were performances like Chinese Diabolo, flute and choir. The volunteers also had a chance to engage in conversations with the seniors while giving them a massage.

The warmth, love and passion from the volunteers have certainly brightened up the day of the seniors. The food items and daily necessities sponsored by several donors helped to reduce the operational costs of the charity home.

Through this programme, WFWP Malaysia was able to serve as a platform to engage the public, especially women and the youth in voluntary work and social service for the community. We sincerely thank all the donors and volunteers for their kind contribution towards the success of the programme.
