On 30 November 2019, WFWP Malaysia organised a free health screening and health talk event at Peace Embassy, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This event supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3- “Good Health and Well-being” by providing free health service to the public to increase their awareness through health talks and counselling. More than 80 people participated in this event which was co-organised by Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and supported by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).
The aim was to raise awareness and consciousness on the significance of early detection of diabetes, kidney and heart diseases as our country has the highest rate of diabetes in Asia and heart disease is the leading cause of death in Malaysia. Hence, prevention and early detection help saves lives.
The health screening included screening for blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference, urine test and random blood glucose. There were also two health talks entitled: “Diabetes: Prevention & Risk Factors” by Ms. Nikmah Amirah binti Jamal, speaker from NKF and “Stress Management” by Datin Siti Norlela Alwi, President of BAKAT Subang Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM).

The health talks were aimed to help the public to take control of their health and manage stress wisely. The programme ended with a 40 minutes Zumba session and charity sales of food and health products, including Vineg Plus vinegar juice drinks, turmeric powder by Dharma Shakti Ashram and organic soy milk powder.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dato’ Peter Tan, Director of NuLifestyle Sdn Bhd for the generous donation and sponsorship of Vineg Plus vinegar drinks. We also sincerely thank all NKF staff and volunteers for their contribution towards the success of the programme.
