Asia Pacific First Ladies Summit 2019 In Koror, Palau

The Asia Pacific First Ladies Summit 2019 — Palau was jointly co-hosted by First lady and the Office of President of the Republic of Palau (H.E. Debbie Remengesau and her husband H.E. Thomas Remengesau Jr.), the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) and the Women’s Federation for World Peace International (WFWPI) on 9-11 December 2019, in Koror, Palau. WFWP Malaysia was represented by the President Datin S. Shobana and Vice President, Mdm Lina Cheng.

The summit on 10 December had the theme, “Addressing the Critical Challenges of Our Time: Interdependence, Mutual Prosperity and Universal Values.” Five current first ladies from Palau, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea and Mariana Island along with three former first ladies Fiji, Kiribati and Marshall Islands attended. In addition, more than 500 delegates from 38 nations were at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center for the summit.

The Asia Pacific First Ladies Summit 2019 — Palau saw the launching of the International Association of First Ladies for Peace in the Asia Pacific region and featured the Interfaith Family Festival honouring the importance of traditional family values. It concluded with the International Youth Assembly and the Palau Declaration.
