“Conquer the Challenge” Youth Motivational Talk & “Give Me a Chance” Education Assistance Fund 2021 Award Ceremony

8 outstanding underprivileged female students received financial assistance of RM1,000 each under the “Give Me a Chance” Education Assistance Fund Programme organised by Women’s Federation for World Peace Malaysia on 24 April 2021.

“We realised that there are many high performing girls from underserved families, who after their SPM or STPM, are still craving to continue their studies. At WFWP, we want to empower these girls. We believe they should be given the opportunity to further their studies and secure better paying jobs to lift their families out of poverty in the long run,” said Mrs. Shobana M. Subramaniam, President of WFWP Malaysia, in her welcoming remarks.

The award ceremony was held after the “Conquer The Challenge” youth motivational talk, also part of the “Give Me a Chance” education initiative which took place at the Malaysia Peace Embassy. 40 underprivileged female university and college students attended the energetic and interactive talk given by the professional motivational speaker, Ms. V. Kalaiyarasi is held here in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Three student representatives from the Achievers Mind Academy also led the audience in a short 10-minute alpha meditation demonstration to relieve the mind and enhance memory for efficient learning.

With the stringent implementation of total lockdowns to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus in Malaysia, physical classes in schools and universities have been postponed indefinitely. Many students have been suffering from high stress and anxiety levels in coping with the “New Normal” of online learning and virtual classes. Barely able to cope with their livelihoods with reduced incomes and job losses, staying connected to online education has become a huge burden for underprivileged families.

WFWP Malaysia is lending a helping hand to outstanding underprivileged female students who intend to pursue a tertiary education by providing financial assistance. The “Conquer the Challenge” Youth Motivational Talk held is also aimed at motivating and equipping young students with the right attitude and mindset in coping with the challenges of the pandemic.
