On 22 October, thirty disadvantaged families in Selangor received food rations and an educational boost under the Give Me A Chance Education Empowerment Initiative led by WFWP Malaysia. The event was supported by other associates of the Peacebuilders Network Malaysia namely the Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia and Ajar-ajar Malaysia.

Six outstanding students from these families were given refurbished laptops to support their tertiary education, and one student received cash support. The families also heard a career talk by a motivational lecturer, Mr Arulnathan Assirvatham, and later received grocery packs at the event held in SJK(T) Telok Panglima Garang.
The Guest of Honour, YB PappaRaidu Veraman, Selangor EXCO member for Human Resource and Poverty Eradication, commended the organisers for empowering the students through this project.
The President of Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Malaysia, Mdm Lina Cheng, explained that the Laptop Presentation initiative started in 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic and has benefitted 200 needy students with refurbished laptops and assistance funds.
Dr. Udesh Chaskar, UPF Youth Ambassador for Peace, said: “I hope the recipients will be successful in their studies as well as give back to society through community service and social work.”
The event saw past recipients of the education assistance programme — Ms S. Loganapriya and Ms S. Janani — contributing by playing the role of emcee and experience-sharing respectively.
