WFWP Malaysia was invited to participate in the national celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March organised by the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Center.
The celebration themed “Women Exalted, Nation Glorious”, aimed to honour women as catalysts for national excellence, aligning with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani in creating an inclusive community.
The event was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, who was accompanied by his wife and also the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri.
The one-day programme included a session on Anti-Sexual Harassment Advocacy, explanation on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), discussion on “Zero Tolerance on Violence against Women”, a forum on “Women of Madani Aspiration” and exhibition and sales by women entrepreneurs and NGOs.
WFWP Malaysia sent a delegation of five members led by its President.
