In conjunction with World Interfaith Harmony Week, WFWP Malaysia co-organised a meaningful gotong-royong (community clean-up) and charity programme at Kampung Baru Seri Setia, Petaling Jaya, Selangor — highlighting interfaith cooperation through practical service.
Together with Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Malaysia, the Village Development and Security Committee of Kampung Baru Seri Setia (JPKK), and Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), and with support from Persatuan SWAN and Ajar-ajar Malaysia, 60 volunteers came together in the true Malaysian spirit of gotong-royong.
As part of WFWP Malaysia’s commitment to educational empowerment, six students received refurbished laptops under our “Give Me a Chance” initiative, equipping them with essential tools to support their studies. The laptops were presented by WFWP Malaysia President, Mdm Lina Cheng, to the six recipients, accompanied by Mr Ding Eow Chai, Chairman of JPKK, and Mr Sudesh Balasubramaniam, President of UPF Malaysia — marking a meaningful moment of encouragement for the students and their families.
Volunteers gathered at the village multipurpose hall before forming teams to clean several streets in the area. Working hand in hand, participants collected rubbish and cleared litter — demonstrating shared responsibility, unity and care for the environment. It was especially heartening to see residents, partners and the six laptop recipients actively participating in the clean-up, contributing to the well-being of their own community.
Food packages were also distributed to 25 families to help ease daily needs.
Through service, compassion and cooperation, WFWP Malaysia continues to promote interfaith harmony, volunteerism and social cohesion — building stronger communities and brighter futures together.
